When officers arrived, they located a 77-year-old man in an apartment with what officers initially believed was a stab wound.

The offender was allegedly still inside an apartment. It is unclear whether it was the same apartment as the wounded man or an adjacent one. APD officers are actively working to negotiate with the person who is barricaded in the apartment.

Just prior to transport, the man told police he was not stabbed but hit with some unknown object that was making him bleed heavily. Medical crews transported the man to a local area hospital. His condition is unknown.

APD officers have Madeira Dr SE blocked between Kathryn Ave and Anderson Ave. Drivers and residents should expect delays when accessing this area.

UPDATE:

At approximately 5:52 PM, the suspect was arrested by the APD officers.
