As we reported to you earlier, a shooting incident near Kirtland Air Force Base early Saturday morning left one dead and another injured. We have since learned from an official Air Force source that the deceased and the injured individual are both Airmen.
According to the Public Affairs Office at the Air Force, Security Forces members from the 377th Security Forces Squadron responded to the incident at approximately 2 AM on February 22, 2025, near the base’s Truman entrance. One Airman sustained a nonfatal gunshot wound to the hand. The injured airman was transported to the University of New Mexico Medical Hospital for treatment. He was released later with no life-threatening injuries. Authorities discovered the other Airman dead at the scene on Truman just north of Gibson.
