The Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office is committed to the pursuit of justice. The week of September 15, 2025, there are six jury trials taking place in Bernalillo County.
Case Number: D-202-CR-2024-00522
- Felony Homicide
On September 15, 2025, at 8:30 AM, the jury trial in the case of State of New Mexico v. Jesse Steven Cook will be held in Courtroom 620, presided over by Judge Brett R. Loveless.”
Jesse Cook and Brian Garcia have been charged in connection with the fatal beating and stabbing of Jonathan Arsenault. The initial charges, an open count of first-degree murder, have since been amended to second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit second-degree murder.
The incident occurred on December 29, 2024, at 4815 Central Ave. NE, where Arsenault was stabbed. He was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH) but died from his injuries in January.
Brian Lee Garcia
Case Number: D-202-CR-2024-00523
- Felony Homicide
Judge Brett R. Loveless is scheduled to preside over a jury trial in the case of State of New Mexico v. Brian Lee Garcia on September 17, 2025, at 8:30 AM in Courtroom 620.

On September 17, 2025, at 9:00 AM, a jury trial in the case of State of New Mexico v. Alejandro Arguelles is scheduled in Courtroom 420, with Judge Jennifer J. Wernersbach presiding.
Raul Arguello Rodriguez
Case Number: D-202-CR-2024-02511
- Felony Sexual Offenses
In the case of State of New Mexico v. Raul Arguello Rodriguez, Judge Matthew E. Chavez is scheduled to preside over a status hearing on September 15, 2025, at 8:30 AM, followed by a jury trial on September 16 at the same time. Both proceedings will take place in Courtroom 416.
Case Number: D-202-CR-2024-03446
- Felony Homicide
Judge Lucy Solimon is scheduled to preside over a jury trial in the case of State of New Mexico v. Shamon Dominic Pacheco, Jr., set to take place daily at 9:00 AM from September 15 through September 19, 2025, in Courtroom 338.
Pacheco is being charged with the 2021 shooting death of Raymond Ortiz, Jr., 29.

- Felony Homicide
On September 15, 2025, at 8:45 AM, a jury trial in the case of State of New Mexico v. Austin J. Wilkins is scheduled to take place in Courtroom 416, with Judge Matthew E. Chavez presiding.
Courts presume that the defendant is innocent unless and until the prosecution secures a conviction through due process.
