The University of New Mexico and New Mexico State University Rivalry Basketball Game slated for later today has been cancelled due to a NMSU basketball player being involved in a shooting on UNM’s Campus.
According to an anonymous source that was not authorized to speak on the matter, the NMSU basketball player was walking on UNM’s campus with his girlfriend when he was approached by numerous UNM students.
At least one of the UNM students brandished a weapon and proceeded to try and rob the NMSU student. The NMSU basketball player was also reportedly carrying a firearm and he supposedly shot at least one of the UNM students that was attempting to rob him. It was later reported that at least two robbers got away during the melee. The UNM student died on scene.
