Woman Killed in Front of Officers, Suspect Gets Shot at by APD as he Flees

Downtown Albuquerque –

On August 22nd, 2022, at around 1:15AM, Albuquerque Police officers were on the scene of a physical dispute between a male and female near the Central and 3rd street intersection. As Officers arrived they witnessed the male subject shoot and kill the female.

An APD officer fired one shot at the suspect during the incident which did not strike the fleeing offender. The suspect fled the area in an unknown type of vehicle. APD officers did not fire any additional shots due to a crowd around the murder scene. No Officers were injured in the incident. A multi agency task force is investigating the officer involved shooting. APD homicide detectives are investigating the murder of the woman who was involved in the domestic violence incident.

This is Albuquerque’s 112th homicide of 2022. It is also the 6th homicide of the year in the Sixth street to First Street corridor of Downtown Albuquerque.
