Albuquerque-
Around 8:30AM, the Albuquerque Sunport put a shelter-in-place on the facility due to a perceived threat.
Witnesses said a large police presence is at the airport. It is unclear what started the lock down.
It’s wise to check the Sunport’s social media pages or website for updates and delays.
Update:
At 9:54AM, the shelter-in-place order was lifted.
Police have not disclosed the cause or origin of the reported threat.
Update 2:
An official from the Albuquerque Sunport release a statement which stated that:
“This morning, the Sunport was advised of a potential security threat in the parking structure. Out of an abundance of caution, a shelter in place was issued for the facility, while an investigation was conducted by the Albuquerque Police Department. For a short time, ticket counters and baggage claim were shut down and access to the parking structure was halted. At this time, operations are back to normal and all areas of the Sunport are open. All inquiries as to the nature of the threat should be directed to APD.“
