Albuquerque —
Around 11:50 AM, a caller phoned 911 to report a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash in the 6200 block of Sonrisa Pl NE. The caller advised that after the vehicle struck the female pedestrian, it crashed into a nearby dwelling. While en route, officers were notified that the pedestrian was unresponsive and not moving. Albuquerque Fire Rescue’s Engine 20 and Rescue 20 were dispatched.
Upon officers’ arrival, they located one female pedestrian with critical injuries. AFR transported her as a “scoop and run,” indicating life-threatening injuries, to a local hospital.
The truck involved in the crash appeared to have also struck a residential gas line. AFR has remained on scene and has been monitoring the situation, and the New Mexico Gas Company has been notified and is responding.
Officers are currently blocking off Sonrisa Pl at Calle Avion NE while they investigate.
If we learn more about this crash or the pedestrian’s condition, we will update you.
