Albuquerque –
Minutes after 3:50 PM, multiple callers reported a stabbing at the Smith’s Grocery store off Coors Blvd and Central, with one caller indicating a person had been stabbed in the neck. Officers from the Albuquerque Police Department, along with Albuquerque Fire Rescue and Albuquerque Ambulance personnel, responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers provided medical aid to the victim, secured the scene, and began searching for the suspects. The victim is said to be a security guard.
When AFR and AAS arrived, the victim was transported to a local hospital. Their condition is not known.
Around 4 PM, officers located two individuals believed to be involved, a man and a woman, a short distance from the store. Both were allegedly found by police with blood on their clothing and were taken into custody for questioning.
It is not yet known whether Smith’s was closed as a result of the police activity and ongoing investigation. Social media posts and emails we have received indicate the store is surrounded by crime scene tape.
