Albuquerque, NM –
At approximately 8:48 PM, emergency services received reports of a fire in the vicinity of
Lomas and San Pedro Dr NE, the structure reportedly involved is a house. According to the traffic on the scanner the location of the incident is south of Lomas.
From what we heard on the scanner, the roof of the home is on fire. AFR originally thought the AC unit was ablaze, but now they think the entire home is on fire and they are ordering firefighters off of the roof for their safety. AFR has at least nine units on the scene working to control this blaze.
This is a developing story. More information will be provided when it becomes available.
UPDATE:
Around 5:30 AM, we received an update from AFR on this fire. Captain John Roumpf reported that at around 8:49 PM on December 3rd, Albuquerque Fire Rescue received a dispatch to the 900 block of Cagua regarding a potential structure fire in a single-family residence.
Upon arrival, Engine 05 observed active fire conditions emanating from the roof. The firefighting team successfully brought the fire under control within 50 minutes. The structural damage was substantial.
Fortunately, no injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. The cause of the fire remains undetermined, and there is no further information available at this time.
