Albuquerque –
Around 10:15 PM, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department and Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to a crash on Interstate 40 eastbound at 98th involving two vehicles.
Upon arrival, AFR pronounced one person dead. Three others were injured, two of whom were reported to have potentially critical injuries. All injured parties were promptly transported to a local area hospital.
Eastbound lanes remain blocked as New Mexico State Police are taking the lead on the fatal crash investigation at the request of APD. Traffic on Interstate 40 eastbound is being diverted off at 98th.
Additional details will be shared when and if they are released by APD or the NMSP.
