On Saturday, April 29, 2023, around 4:00pm, Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) was dispatched to an apartment fire located at 12801 Copper Ave NE. This appears to be the location of the Copper Terrace Apartments. Multiple callers reported a fire on the second floor of a three-story multi-family structure.

According to a recent update from AFR, Station 12 arrived on scene two minutes after dispatch and found the fire. Engine 12 (E12) and Rescue 12 (R12) organized a simultaneous search and fire control of the dwelling. In approximately 10 minutes after AFR’s arrival, the structure was both searched and the fire was contained.

In total, 13 AFR units responded to the fire. No injuries were reported to firefighters or occupants.

Five people were displaced due to the fire. They will reportedly be assisted with lodging by the apartment owners.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by AFR fire investigators.

This is a developing story. We will update this article as more information becomes available.
