Albuquerque, NM –
At approximately 12:50 PM, the Albuquerque Fire Department was dispatched to 7440 Jim McDowell Rd NW, which is the Westside Shelter, for a vehicle fire.
When Engine 14 arrived on the scene, they located an RV that was fully engulfed. Engine 17, Rescue 22, and Battalion 4 are also en route to help tackle this fire.
On the radio, we heard AFR ask if the county, presumably Bernalillo County Fire Rescue, had additional water resources or units in this area to help assist AFR. Presently, AFR firefighters are fighting the fire with foam as there is a lack of water, such as hydrants, in the area.
The wind has picked up in the last hour or two, so hopefully, AFR will be able to knock down this fire quickly.
If we learn more about this fire, we will let you know.
