Albuquerque –
On July 2nd at approximately 5:50 AM, Albuquerque Fire Rescue received multiple 911 calls reporting a structure fire at a multi-story apartment building located at 4200 Spanish Bit NE.
Engine 16 arrived first on scene and confirmed a working fire in a first-floor apartment with extension to the floors above. AFR Crews initiated an aggressive fire attack and brought the fire under control in about 12 minutes. The fire caused heavy damage to the originating apartment and extended to the exterior balconies of the units above.
One tenant required medical attention and was transported by Albuquerque Ambulance Service to a local hospital. No firefighter injuries were reported.
Three apartments were deemed uninhabitable, and property management is assisting the displaced residents with resources.
The AFR Fire Investigation Division remains on scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
