At around 11:27 AM on May 24, 2023, Albuquerque Fire Rescue crews swiftly responded to a call for service at 529 Indiana St. SE, which is in Station 11’s designated area for emergency calls. The fire occurred in a multi-family residential structure.
Upon arrival, Engine 11 was the first unit on the scene. They quickly assessed the situation and confirmed that there was an active fire within the structure. A decisive offensive approach was adopted, and the crew immediately deployed a firefighting line for controlling the fire and conducting search operations. Thankfully, all residents were safely evacuated.
Within a span of 15 minutes from the initial unit’s arrival, the fire was effectively brought under control. This prompt response and coordinated effort by AFR’s crews prevented any harm to civilians or firefighters, and no injuries were reported.
The Red Cross has been contacted so that they can help provide assistance to the displaced residents that were affected by this fire.
Currently, an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
