AFR Working Two Residential Fires in the Metro Area

Albuquerque, NM –

On January 12, 2024, at approximately 6:02 PM, Albuquerque Fire Rescue received a dispatch to 10513 Griffith Park Dr NE following reports of a residential fire.

When AFR arrived on the scene, Ladder 5 promptly reported smoke emanating from the skylight of the property. AFR had to force entry into the structure to check for occupants. One individual was reportedly found inside; they were removed from the residence. The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes of AFR’s arrival. 

The extent of the damage and the exact cause of the fire are unknown as AFR is still on the scene.

Update:

AFR reports that a majority of the damage was confined to a bedroom. One civilian sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The cause was deemed accidental, and no further details are currently available.

Around 6:22 PM, AFR was sent to a single story residential fire at 2108 Dry Gulch St SW. When AFR arrived on the scene, a resident was reportedly trying to extinguish the blaze with a garden hose. It sounded like their attempts were helpful in preventing the fire from spreading.

AFR’s Engine 7 was able to gain control of the fire at 6:36 PM.

As of now, the cause of this fire is also unknown.

We will update you if we learn more information from AFR.
