Earlier this morning, at 5:56 AM, AFR, along with Bernalillo County Fire Rescue, was dispatched to 5160 San Francisco Dr. NE for a reported structure fire. The location is the Republican Party of New MExico.
Upon arrival, Engine 15 confirmed a working fire. The crew quickly brought the fire under control within five minutes of their arrival.
The fire caused damage to the front entryway and resulted in smoke damage throughout the building. Fortunately, no injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. AFR states “Fire investigators are on-site and an investigation is ongoing.” AFR also stated that ATF and the FBI were reportedly on scene with their Arson investigators.
In a separate email released to media, the Republican Party of New Mexico stated their “headquarters in Albuquerque was destroyed in a deliberate act of arson which also included spray painting the words ‘ICE=KKK.‘” We have reached out to the Republican Party of New Mexico to see if they had surveillance cameras on the property.

The last time Republicans held a majority in both houses of the NM Legislature at the same time was 1930, and the last time Republicans held a majority on the NM Supreme Court was in the 1920s.
