The Albuquerque Police Department’s Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigators are on scene collecting evidence and investigating the death of an individual in the vicinity of Eubank Blvd NE and Copper Ave NE. APD’s Mobile Crime Lab RV was observed staged on Eubank just north of Copper in the northbound lanes of traffic. A dead body was found along a bike path in the area of I-40 and Eubank Blvd.

A driver attempting to get on to I-40 reported that northbound Eubank Blvd was closed at Copper Ave due to the ongoing investigation and road closure.

APD released a statement after our publication which said “The victim, an adult male, was discovered by people passing by the area. Officer were dispatched around 4:30 a.m. the man was declared deceased and homicide detectives were called to the scene to start an investigation.”

The email from APD does not indicate whether a suspect has been apprehended.

When we learn more about this death investigation, we will update you.

Update:

At 3:12 PM, APD announced the PSAs blocking traffic could open up lanes of travel on Eubank near Copper. Northbound Eubank should be opened back up soon.

UPDATE 2:

APD announced that “Following the preliminary investigation and autopsy, APD is investigating this death from Saturday, March 15, as a suspicious death. There were no signs of blunt force trauma or other signs of a homicide. However, detectives will continue to investigate.”

  1. That’s a pretty sketchy area. There’s a bike path that runs East/West that goes underneath Eubank. The tunnel has no lights and always frequented by the homeless and perverts. You can smell it before you see it. Another Tim Keller success story.
