Another Day in the War Zone, Another Stolen Car

War Zone/ABQ – This morning, at around 930AM, we noticed APD’s air support was assisting ground officers in the process of capturing a stolen vehicle offender.  The stolen vehicle was seen driving around the war zone like a maniac. 

At one point the driver and passenger got out of the stolen vehicle and briefly abandoned it.  Possibly because it was too hot outside the driver ran back to the car and began driving like a maniac again.  The passenger who got out was quickly detained by officers.

This time the offender driving hit a couple curbs and made the car un-drivable.  The black Volkswagen drove a few more blocks with flat tires and leaking fluids and finally stopped at Southern and Cardenas SE.  The driver then got out with his hands up and surrendered to police. 

The suspect was taken into custody and will be facing unknown charges related to the incident.
