Albuquerque –
Today at around 2:00PM, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department’s Southeast Area Command responded to a Burglary in progress. The homeowner told police he found a man inside his home at 1002 Madison Street NE. The home is located in an affluent neighborhood in northeast Albuquerque near Constitution and Washington NE.
Police surrounded the house and began to look for the man in the house. APD used aerial assets to locate the man hiding on top of the roof holding a phone and sports drink in his hand. After a few minutes the man realized he was surrounded by police and decided to come down from the roof.
APD immediately took the man into custody without incident and cleared the home of any further threats. It is unclear if the burglar caused any damage to the home.
According to real estate websites, this custom home is listed for sale at $1.1 million dollars and features 5 beds, 5 baths and over 4,000 square feet.
We will update the story when we have booking information on the man who wanted to live in luxury for a few hours. He will now pivot to jail cell living until he sees a judge.
