Albuquerque –
APD homicide detectives charged David Gabaldon, 41-year-old of Albuquerque, for the fatal stabbing of a man. The fight was early this morning and spilled out of a city bus onto the sidewalk along Coors Blvd., near Iliff in Northwest Albuquerque.
According to the criminal complaint, two regular bus passengers gave the bus driver Gabaldon a hard time because he was late according to the posted bus schedule. One of the riders then appeared to show a fist to Gabaldon and act like he was going to punch him.

The complaint states audio/video was recorded of the arguments and the altercation leading up to the murder of the rider.
Gabaldon tells one of the riders: “get a taxi cheap ass.” The rider responds back: “be on time dumbass.”
It should be noted that ABQ RIDE bus fares are non-existent and free for the public to ride on anywhere they wanna go to.
The complaint goes on to say, surveillance video showed Gabaldon grab what appears to be pepper spray and he sprayed it in the man’s face. Gabaldon took another swing at the man and started to pull his hair. Gabaldon then retrieved a knife from his pocket and walked through the bus toward the man. The man can be seen on video retrieving what appears to be a knife from his backpack and exiting the bus.

After exiting the bus, the man approached Gabaldon and an object can be seeing falling from the man’s hand. Gabaldon took a stance and thrusted his right hand toward the man’s left side two times. (See above black and white images from the criminal complaint)
Gabaldon followed the man to the entrance of the Good 2 Go where the victim collapsed and started to bleed out. A random security guard tried to detain Gabaldon at the scene, but Gabaldon elbowed the guard. He then proceeded to grab the security guard’s body camera and toss it to the ground. Gabaldon purposely stomped on the video camera and rendered it useless.
APD arrived on scene and detained Gabaldon while also providing life saying measures to the victim. The victim, who hasn’t been identified pending next of kin notification, was transported by ambulance and died at the hospital.
We reached out to an ABQ RIDE spokeswoman on the policies of bus drivers carrying weapons on their person and how long Gabaldon had been employed with the City of Albuquerque. Here is what the spokeswoman sent:

Gabaldon was charged with an open count of murder, tampering with evidence, and destroying property over $300.00.
