Albuquerque –

The Albuquerque Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened in the 2800 block of Vermont. A relative reportedly took the wounded person, who sustained at least one gunshot, to the University of New Mexico Hospital.

While on scene, we observed that APD has streets blocked off near the shooting scene to investigate. They are blocking off Vermont between Candelaria Rd and Claremont Ave. A neighbor reported seeing police investigating near a home and seeing blood near the premises. We were told that a son allegedly shot his mom.

APD’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU) may investigate the case based on the severity of the victim’s injuries. If the injuries are critical, authorities may treat it as a full homicide call-out.

If we learn more about this shooting, a suspect or the person who was shot and their condition, we will update you.
