Albuquerque –

The Albuquerque Police Department is responding to a shooting in the 320 block of Charleston St SE. The victim was transported to the hospital by an ambulance, where they later died.

We’ve received information from a firsthand witness confirming that the suspect remains at large, and that APD has established a perimeter around the shooting location. We strongly urge both drivers and curious onlookers to avoid the area to facilitate unhindered access for law enforcement to the crime scene.

While on scene, we heard APD making repeated PA announcements for an individual named Vincent.

It hasn’t even been 24 hours since Governor Michelle Lujan-Grisham announced her Emergency Public Health Order, and a criminal has already violated the Governor’s order. It is unknown what consequences this individual will face for violating the Governor’s order.

This is the 109th homicide of 2023 in the Albuquerque area.

UPDATE:

Around 11:40AM, we received an email from APD which said:

“APD officers are at the scene of a deadly shooting in Southeast Albuquerque where an individual who is possibly involved has barricaded inside an apartment.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting shortly after 10 a.m. Medical personnel transported an adult male with a gunshot wound to a local hospital. He was later declared deceased.

Officers on scene learned of an individual who may have been involved in the shooting. The individual was seen entering an apartment nearby. Officers set up a perimeter and are attempting to get the individual to exit.”

More information will be provided when and if it becomes available.
