UPDATE: 04/21/2023 @ 5:50PM

Albuquerque, NM – On Friday midday, the Albuquerque Police Department was called out to investigate a suspicious death of a baby, on the 10000 block of Ralph Ave NE, which is near Constitution Ave and Eubank Blvd NE.

We were told that a woman showed up to her parent’s house and her baby was dead. The cause of death for the baby is unknown.

We had a reporter on location trying to gather more details, but APD and the mobile crime vans had already been cleared from the scene. While we were trying to gather more information at the scene, APD’s civilian PIO Rebecca Atkins emailed the media informing them of the infant’s death. APD’s Crimes Against Children Unit is now investigating the death of the five-month-old infant.

The child’s mother, Christina Bennett, 31, was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant. She was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center.

This is a developing story. More information will be provided when we learn more from APD.

UPDATE:

Our update corrects the time that APD was called to the scene from afternoon to midday. We received information that APD and the mobile crime vans were on scene around noon. APD has not verified when they were dispatched to this call.
