APD Investigating Two Overnight Homicides that Occurred within an Hour of Each Other

Albuquerque, NM

The first homicide happened in the Foothills Area Command shortly after midnight on June 19, 2023. Albuquerque Police responded to a shooting at a residence in the 1900 block of Shirlane Pl. NE. A male victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

APD’s Homicide Unit was called out to investigate. No other information was provided by APD.

A second homicide occurred in Albuquerque’s Southeast Area Command on Monday, June 19, 2023. Shortly after midnight, APD officers responded to a shooting in the area of 124 Alcazar Street SE. A female victim, who was staying in a tent, was struck by gunfire. She was transported to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Homicide detectives took over the investigation this morning when they learned the victim had died while in the hospital.

The homicide investigation is ongoing, and no suspects have been identified at this time.

The homicide on Shirlane Place is the 61st homicide in Albuquerque this year, and the homicide on Alcazar Street SE is the 62nd homicide in the Albuquerque metro area for 2023.
