According to APD, no officers sustained injuries during the exchange of gunfire. However, one suspect has been transported to the hospital.

To investigate the officer-involved shooting, the Multi-Agency Task Force is promptly responding to the scene.

A witness reached out to us, stating that the shooting occurred around 3:30 PM. The observer reported seeing someone running away from the scene, specifying that the person was fleeing from a truck.

Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina told the media that the incident stemmed from an auto and gun thief investigation. A chase happened across the city with two suspects in a truck. One suspect jumped out of the vehicle and the other fled to the Southwest of Albuquerque where the shooting occured.

This marks the second instance of a shooting involving an officer in this vicinity this year. On June 24th, 2023, there was an officer involved shooting in the area of El Mezquite Market on the northeast corner of 98th St. and Central Ave. NW.

Individuals are recommended to steer clear of the area.
