SW Albuquerque – The Albuquerque Police Department has sent officers to the West Gate area at 2717 Paseo Del Canto Dr SW in response to a shooting incident. Tragically, a juvenile under the age of 3* has been shot. This is a rapidly evolving situation. There is a heavy police presence in the area.
One of our dedicated reporters is en route to the scene to gather more information and we will provide updates as we learn more about this heartbreaking incident.
UPDATE:
Shortly after 9:35AM, we received an email from APD’s civilian PIO Gilbert Gallegos, which said “APD’s homicide unit is responding to investigate a shooting death at a residence in Southwest Albuquerque. The shooting took place this morning at a mobile home park in the 2700 block of Paseo del Canto Dr. SW.”
Gallegos states they will provide an update between 10:30-11:00AM.
We will update you when we learn more.

*According to APD, they are uncertain of the child’s exact age possibly 5 years old, but they are working to confirm this.
APD is asking for anyone with information to come forward and help with the investigation. They are also pleading that if anyone in the area has home surveillance video, ring cameras or doorbell cameras to please contact them.
