APD Responds to Kirtland Elementary, False Alarm After Investigation

Albuquerque –

Around 10 a.m., the Albuquerque Police Department received reports of gunfire coming from the courtyard of Kirtland Elementary, located at 3530 Gibson Blvd. SE.

Albuquerque Police quickly responded to the scene to address the possible threat of a shooting. They entered the school and were informed by staff that no shots had been fired. During this time, the school was placed on a brief lockdown.

The school day continued, and no threat was found. The school borders Kirtland Air Force Base.

We reached out to see if training was being conducted on the base and they said there were not trainings happening near the school.
