Homicide detectives from the Albuquerque Police Department are responding to a fatal shooting at the Circle K gas station located at 141 98th St. SW.

A security guard reportedly discharged their firearm, striking a man. The man subsequently died from his injuries. The circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether the man was armed, are under investigation.

Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

UPDATE:

APD sent out an email stating that “after consulting with the District Attorney’s Office, this case is being reviewed as a possible self-defense shooting.”

  1. If he had to fire his weapon to protect himself or others so be it. Now if he fired his weapon simply to stop a beer runner/other retail crime then IDK. Clearly we need more information. That said again to prevent death good for him. To stop a crime that insurance will cover then again IDK.
