APD Shoots & Kills Man in SW ABQ

Albuquerque –

Around 3AM on September 29, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department responded to reports of a domestic disturbance at an apartment at 10001 Ceja Vista Rd. S.W., which is just east of Atrisco Heritage High School.

While officers were on the scene, they attempted to negotiate with the man for over thirty minutes. However, the domestic dispute escalated, and the man began bludgeoning a woman with a hammer. At least one officer fired their weapon, striking the hammer-wielding attacker. The man who was shot died on the scene.

Police stated the woman was taken to a local area hospital for her injuries, but her current condition is not known.

No officers were injured during the shooting.

The Multi-Agency Task Force is responding to and investigating this officer-involved shooting.
