Albuquerque –

A heavy police presence has been reported in the Four Hills area as the Albuquerque Police Department’s SWAT team is actively working in the 600 block of Stagecoach Road NE, which is on Stagecoach between Via Posada and Running Water Circle SE.

APD officers have been on scene since at least 11:45 AM, working to get an individual to surrender. At some point during the response, the SWAT team was deployed.

Around 1:20 PM, nearby residents reported seeing additional unmarked units arriving with lights and sirens. As of the latest update, people in the area say the police presence remains ongoing.

This is an active and developing story. We will provide updates as information becomes available.

UPDATE:

Shortly after publication, around 4:35 PM, we learned that a suspect was taken into custody.

APD officers and Police Service Aides were still on scene near Running Water Cir SE and Stagecoach Rd SE, but as of 5:25 PM, they appeared to be breaking down the tape for the perimeter. Meaning, roads in the area should be reopening soon.
