Around 4:00 PM, deputies from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico State Police responded to a semi-tractor trailer on fire on the side of the road on westbound I-40. The driver had pulled over, and the trailer was fully engulfed in flames.
Bernalillo County Fire responded to the scene and began working to prevent the fire from jumping over the interstate to the Sandia Mountain area.
Bernalillo County Fire was able to get the fire under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby brush and homes. The driver of the semi-truck appeared to be walking around the scene and talking with authorities.
Westbound traffic was backed up due to the fire.
