BCSO Cedar Crest Homicide Investigation Update

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office has released an update on the suspicious death investigation announcement from this morning.

According to BCSO, deputies responded to a residence located at 17 Mulberry Lane in Cedar Crest for a welfare check on February 16, 2025, at approximately 4:55 AM. Upon arrival, deputies discovered two deceased individuals within the home.

Given the evidence of apparent trauma, the incident is being investigated as a homicide. The victims have been identified as Jesse Howser, 29, and Ashley Lopez, 34.

At this moment, BCSO would like to reiterate to the public that there is no known threat to the community as a result of this incident. The investigation suggests that this may be a murder-suicide, but the investigation is ongoing.
