The Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office is committed to the pursuit of justice. The week of April 14, 2025, there are four jury trials taking place in Bernalillo County.

Andrew Ramirez
Case Number: D-202-CR-2024-00305
- First Degree Murder (Willful & Deliberate)(Firearm Enhancement)
Judge Joseph A. Montano will preside over this jury trial, commencing on April 16, 2025, at 8:30 AM in Courtroom 416. On April 17 and April 18, court will start at 8:30 AM in Courtroom 416.
UPDATE:
On Friday, April 18, a jury convicted Andrew Ramirez of First-Degree Murder for the fatal shooting of Freddie Litton. The crime happened in broad daylight in November 2023. It was caught on surveillance camera and showed Ramirez running after the victim and opening fire. Ramirez had just been let out of prison on burglary charges shortly before the murder. Ramirez now faces life in prison.

Rufino Castillo
Case Number: D-202-CR-2023-02700
- Aggravated Battery Against a Household Member (Deadly Weapon)
- 2 Counts of Aggravated Battery Against a Household Member (Great Bodily Harm)
- Great Bodily Injury by Vehicle (Reckless Driving)
- Aggravated Battery (Deadly Weapon)
- 2 Counts of Battery Upon a Peace Officer
- Criminal Damage to Property (Over $1,000)
- Resisting, Evading or Obstricting an Officer (Resisting)
The jury trial begins today, April 14, 2025, at 8:30 AM in Courtroom 338, with Judge Emeterio L. Rudolfo presiding. The case notes say this trial may extend through April 18.
UPDATE:
On April 16, a jury convicted Rufino Urquidi Castillo of Aggravated Battery Against a Household Member (Deadly Weapon), 2 counts of Aggravated Battery Against a Household Member (Great Bodily Harm), Great Bodily Harm by Vehicle (Reckless), Aggravated Battery (Deadly Weapon) and 2 counts of Battery on a Peace Officer.
In October of 2023, Rufino Urquidi Castillo’s parents had followed him to a Valero Gas Station due to concerns of him being drunk. Urquidi Castillo began to fight with his father, knocked him to the ground and began to kick him. He then proceeded to get into his truck and run over his mother. Urquidi Castillo circled around the gas pumps towards a crowd of bystanders, striking an Applebee’s employee with his truck. He got out of his truck and went to his unconscious mother, picking her up and dropping her on the concrete. A crowd had attempted to stop him as he continued to fight everyone. Eventually a construction worker was able to subdue him until the police arrived. However, while being arrested, he kicked and spat on an officer before he was eventually put in the car.
Urquidi Castillo faces up to 21 years in the Department of Corrections.

Robin Cassilda
Case Number: D-202-CR-2024-00917
- Possession of Visual Medium of Sexual Exploitation (Child Under 13)
- Abuse of a Child (Does Not Result in Death or Great Bodily Harm)
Judge Bruce C. Fox will preside over the jury trial scheduled to commence today, April 14, 2025, at 8:30 AM in Courtroom 606. Court will begin on April 15 at 8:45 AM in Courtroom 606.
UPDATE:
On April 16, a jury convicted Robin Cassilda of Possession of Visual Medium of Sexual Exploitation (Child Under 13)
In May of 2023, Robin Cassilda’s girlfriend called police after a domestic violence incident and reported that she had seen child sexual abuse material on Cassilda’s computer. Detectives collected the computer along with other items and the FBI extracted the data, only to find over 102 images of child sexual abuse material.
Cassilda faces up to 11 years in the Department of Corrections.
Antonio Jiron
Case Number: D-202-CR-2024-01940
- Aggravated Assault Upon a Peace Officer (Deadly Weapon)
The jury trial begins today, April 14, 2025, at 8:45 AM in Courtroom 402, with Judge Courtney B. Weaks presiding. On April 15, court will begin at 1:30 PM in Courtroom 416.
As always, the court presumes defendants innocent unless and until they’re convicted in a court of law.
