Bernalillo County Fire and Sheriff Officials Give Update on Metro 2 Helicopter Crash

On Monday, July 18th, 2022, Bernalillo County Sheriff Manny Gonzales III and Fire Chief Greg Perez updated the media on the fatal helicopter crash which occured on July 16th, 2022.

Media and department personnel crammed into the large conference room to hear officials give updates about the crash.

Sherriff Gonzales III’s voice cracked with emotion as he gave remarks to the press.

“First and foremost, the thing that we want to actually acknowledge is the four people, they were bar none heroes to us before this incident,” said Sheriff Gonzales.

The FAA, NTSB, and State Police are conducting investigations into the crash and will release information when it becomes available. Typically this takes several months to investigate aircraft crashes.
