The Albuquerque Police Department is investigating a serious injury crash in the area of McMahon Blvd and Golf Course Rd NW. Just after 1:30 PM, there were reports that a vehicle struck a bike, and the rider sustained serious injures.
Early reports indicated that an e-bike may have been involved, though this has not been confirmed by APD. A bystander in the parking lot reported seeing a bicycle of some sort underneath a dark SUV near the stop sign at the parking lot exit turning east onto McMahon.
During the investigation, APD closed eastbound McMahon Blvd up to Golf Course. Additionally, the entrance to the parking lot from McMahon, providing access to Smith’s and Burger King, is also believed to be blocked. As of this publication, it is unknown if this area is still blocked off.
We’ll provide an update if we receive more information about the incident or the rider’s condition.
