Albuquerque, NM – In the realm of criminal justice, few names resonate as strongly as District Attorney Sam Bregman. Known for his unwavering commitment to upholding the law and ensuring justice is served, Bregman has emerged as a prominent figure in the legal landscape. Today he made a surprise announcement at a press conference to the media after a question was posed about him running in 2024 for a full term. He paused for a couple seconds shifting his feet.
“I knew that question was coming. Yes and I am human. Let me tell you the reason why I changed my mind and I will be running for District Attorney,” said District Attorney Sam Bregman.

He went on to say his team has put things in place to make a difference in crime and prosecuting criminals within Bernalillo County.
Bregman was appointed by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham after former DA Raul Torrez won his election for New Mexico Attorney General.
Throughout his tenure as District Attorney, Bregman has spearheaded several groundbreaking initiatives aimed at transforming the criminal justice system. His focus on restorative justice and rehabilitation programs has helped create a more inclusive and compassionate approach to dealing with offenders. The Bernalillo District Attorney race will be up to the voters of the county in 2024. DA Bregman is the first to officially to announce his candidacy.
