Albuquerque –

On May 25th, 2025, the Albuquerque Fire Rescue was dispatched to the 1300 block of Tres Ritos St. SW in reference to a 1-year-old child that had been left in a car. When AFR arrived, they began life saving efforts for the child and were not successful.

AFR asked for Albuquerque Police to respond to the scene because the child had died despite rescue workers attempts. AFR said the child was in the car for over an hour. The temperature was around 83°F when the call came out. If the windows were rolled up, the inside temperature of the vehicle would most likely be at least 150°F.

APD is responding to the scene to further investigate and see if any charges will be filed against anyone who was responsible.

We will update this story, if we have any more information.
