Albuquerque –
During the afternoon of November 26, 2024, the Albuquerque Police Department was called to the Peaks at Sandia View apartment complex, located at 1501 Indian School NE, regarding a verbal altercation. The caller reported that individuals inside the apartment were fighting with pots and pans, and at one point, a gun was introduced into the dispute. The caller later indicated that shots were fired within the apartment complex.
When police arrived, they received a description of two males running from the apartment building. APD spotted two males fleeing the scene, and officers were able to detain one of them. While being detained, he developed a severe case of “incarceritis.” He told rescue personnel that he was experiencing the “worst chest pain ever.” AFR checked his vitals and determined his “felony heart condition” required transport to UNMH as a precaution. An officer accompanied the ambulance to ensure the runner didn’t suddenly feel better and attempt to flee again.
APD did call out K9 to the apartment complex to search the area and clear the apartment where the fight broke out. They were not able to locate the second suspect in the apartment or in the area. APD did find fired casings, and at least one firearm on the premise.
We will update the story if and when we get more information on who was booked in this case.
