Albuquerque –
Around 2:50 PM, the New Mexico State Police, Albuquerque Fire and Rescue, and Albuquerque Ambulance were sent to Interstate 40 eastbound near Carlisle for a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle. The Albuquerque Police Department was also sent to assist with traffic control.
A witness reported seeing two motorcycles at the crash scene after a car collided with one and then fled the scene.
The NMSP advised APD that one rider’s condition is grave, and multiple lanes of I-40 eastbound are closed.
AFR had an Engine and Rescue unit on the scene, and Albuquerque Ambulance was also present. The number of patients transported and their exact conditions is unknown.
The NMDOT signs are advising drivers that: “Crash, I 40 eastbound at mile marker 161, (Carlisle). Right 3 lanes and right shoulder closed. Proceed with caution and expect delays.” Traffic is already backed up on eastbound I-40 to 12th St.
The NMSP is handling this crash investigation.

UPDATE:
We have learned that the car that hit one of the motorcycles fled the scene.
