Albuquerque –
Around 9:55 AM, a major crash was reported on interstate 40 eastbound near the Carlisle exit. One vehicle veered off the roadway, either from the interstate or the Carlisle exit ramp, and came to a stop after hitting the soundproofing barrier wall at the I-40 and Carlisle exit. A white vehicle was seen stopped in the painted divider lines between the exit ramp and eastbound lanes of interstate 40.
Bystanders were spotted near the right shoulder near the car that collided with the wall. The extent of injuries are not known.
The NM DOT states “I-40 Eastbound at the Carlisle Exit ramp has the right lane closed due to a crash. Expect delays.” A NM DOT help truck is blocking this right lane.
The New Mexico State Police are handling this crash and the subsequent investigation.
UPDATE @ 10:35 AM:
A flatbed wrecker was on scene removing the vehicle that struck the wall. The right lane to exit Carlisle is still closed, the left lane is open.
UPDATE @ 11:00 AM
The vehicles involved in this accident have been removed and all lanes to exit at Carlisle are back open. Drive safe!
