An APD officer looks at the deceased male who was involved in a shoot out with police.

NE ABQ – The Target parking lot on Lomas and Hotel Circle is the location of a standoff between an armed man and Police. Police Officers called out that they were fired upon by a person in a van. Officers have had the van surrounded and closed the area down. The police chopper can be heard circling above and it appears tactical officers are arriving.

A witness on scene told us they heard at least 6 or 7 shots fired. Another witness said “this is the worst Target in Albuquerque”.

A drone was used to examine the inside of the van. A short time later a SWAT team flash banged the vehicle and made entry into the van. They pulled the male out of the vehicle and verified he was deceased.

The suspect’s white van had at least three rounds in the back of window of the van.

It is unclear if he killed himself or return fire from original officers on scene caused the death. All officers involved in this incident are reported to be okay.
