2nd District Attorney Sam Bregman talking to youth at presentation at APS’s Truman Middle School
Albuquerque –
To discourage the youth from using firearms to commit crimes, 2nd District Attorney Sam Bregman conducted a presentation at APS’s Truman Middle School with its students. The forum aimed to establish an open line of communication among APS staff, the DA, and the students regarding what to do with guns on campus. He also focused on the types of crimes guns can lead to.

DA Bregman had an interactive presentation with the students, and they would yell out answers to affirm their responses to the questions.
“People who bring a gun on campus with face consequences,” said DA Bregman.
DA Bregman and his staff’s message was about making good choices and succeeding in the rest of their lives.
One student asked why one has to wear an orange jumpsuit, and it led to a discussion about the uniform of prisoners. DA Bregman hammered home the important message of the orange jumpsuit.
“Your freedom is completely gone,” said DA Bregman
These forums contribute to a strategy employed by government agencies in Bernalillo County to deter youth from using firearms.
