At 6:25 PM, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department and Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to a motor vehicle crash at Menaul and Tramway. Upon arrival, they discovered a crash scene with at least two vehicles involved.
Witnesses who drove past the area stated a car and motorcycle are involved. One person purportedly died at the crash site.
Police have closed both north and southbound lanes of Tramway while they investigate. Based on mapping programs, it appears as though Tramway is closed between Rover and Candelaria.
The area of the crash will be closed for a period of time as police investigate. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and seek an alternate route.

At 8:36 PM, APD’s PIO Francesca Perdue sent a media advisory saying:
APD officers are actively investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and vehicle near the intersection of Tramway Boulevard NE and Menaul Boulevard NE.
The public is encouraged to avoid the area and seek an alternate route.

APD announced a preliminary result of their investigation which said:
APD’s Fatal Crash Team responded to the intersection of Tramway Boulevard NE and Menaul Boulevard NE to investigate a fatal crash involving a vehicle and motorcycle.
On September 25, 2024, officers responded shortly after 7:00pm to investigate a fatal crash. The early investigation shows there was a silver Toyota Prius that was facing northbound on Tramway Blvd., attempting to make a U turn on to southbound Tramways Blvd. NE. The motorcycle was traveling southbound on Tramway Blvd. NE. The motorcycle collided with the rear passenger side of the Prius as it made the U turn.
The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on scene. There was three occupants inside the Prius and they were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
This is an ongoing investigation and further information will be released when available.
Was there any footage or witnesses at the fatal crash on Tramway/Menaul on 9/25/24 ~6:30 pm? The crash site was close for investigation, however, minimal investigation was done on crash resulting in a fatality. Police report did not list any witnesses, and even though the driver of the Silver Prius made a U Turner in front of the motorcyclist having the green light and right of way, the driver of the Prius was not cited nor charged. Police report contains minimal information on this accident resulting in a 30 year old boy who lost his life trying to get home from work.
