Albuquerque –
The Albuquerque Police Department is currently investigating a fatal traffic crash in the vicinity of Gibson Blvd and Girard Blvd.
According to APD, “Early investigation shows two vehicles were involved and one passenger of one of the vehicles is deceased.”
Eastbound Gibson is temporarily closed at Girard. We advise the public to steer clear of the area and consider taking an alternative route.
We have a reporter headed to the scene to gather more information. We will update you as soon as we learn more details about how this crash occurred.
UPDATE:
Just before noon two vehicles crashed in the intersection of Gibson and Girard SE. The crash sent one of the vehicle off the roadway into a tree on the north west corner of the intersection. A passenger inside the gold Pontiac did not survive the crash. When we went on scene we could see two vehicles involved. A white pickup truck and a gold 2 door Pontiac. The truck had severe front end damage. The Pontiac appeared to have left the road after the crash and wrapped around a tree on the north west corner of the intersection.
