Albuquerque – APD tells us that on 08/29/2023 their Fatal Crash Team was dispatched in reference to a vehicle versus motorcycle crash that occurred near the intersection of Odelia and Edith just after midnight.

The motorcyclist was severely injured and later died at the hospital. A preliminary investigation indicated that a white 2020 Ducati Motorcycle was traveling westbound on Odelia Rd NE on the second lane (far right), approaching the intersection with Edith. It was being driven by an unidentified motorcyclist. At the same time a, 2012 BMW SUV was traveling behind the motorcyclist.

At some point, the BMW rear-ended the motorcycle and dragged it for approximately half a mile onto Broadway Blvd NE. The motorcyclist was ejected off the motorcycle after about a quarter mile into the collision. The BMW continued northbound on Broadway and was left parked just east of the intersection of Broadway and Arvada. Witnesses stated that there were three subjects occupying the BMW and all three fled from the vehicle and area. The vehicle was left abandoned on the roadway.

The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to UNMH. He later died of his injuries. After checking the motorcycle’s VIN through NCIC It was discovered that it had recently been reported stolen on 08/29/2023. A firearm was also collected near the motorcycle. The BMW was sealed pending a search warrant. The crash is being investigated as a hit-and-run and charges will be pending.
