Fatal Overnight Motorcycle Crash on Albuquerque’s West Side Under Investigation

Officers from the Albuquerque Police Department are investigating a fatal, overnight crash involving two motorcycles on Albuquerque’s far West Side.

Around 11:15 p.m. on Thursday, officers responded to an accident in the area of 1801 Arroyo Vista Blvd. NW. Two motorcycles were found crashed in the roadway of northbound Arroyo Vista Blvd. The first rider was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital with a broken leg. The second rider died on scene.

APD’s Fatal Crash Team determined that two Honda Grom Motorcycles were driving south on northbound Arroyo Vista Blvd. One of the bikes attempted to slow its decent on the slight hill. The second bike was following behind and struck into the back of the first motorcycle. This caused both riders to crash and eject from their bikes.

APD states that “the crash is currently under investigation.
