“Ski Bum Bandit” Robs ABQ Bank

The FBI and the Albuquerque Police Department are requesting the public’s help in identifying the Ski Bum Bandit. On Thursday, December 8, 2022 at approximately 9:15AM, this uniquely disguised suspect robbed the First Financial Credit Union, at 1625 Rio Bravo Blvd SW.

 

The suspect is described as a Black male, he is 6’ in height, and he weighs 180 pounds. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, ski goggles, blue surgical mask, blue glove on his right hand, dark pants, and dark running shoes.  The FBI also reported that the suspect had a noticeable limp when walking into the credit union. However, his limp quickly disappeared when he ran out of the building going west and down an alley.

 

The suspect displayed a handgun inside of the bank and he took an undisclosed amount of money from the bank.

 

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of this suspect.

On top of the FBI reward, First Financial Credit Union is offering a $10,000 reward for the capture of the Ski Bum Bandit.

“First Financial Credit Union is also offering a $10,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of this suspect,” said Jeremy VP of Cards, Fraud & Security of the credit union.

 

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to contact the FBI at (505) 889-1300, or Albuquerque Metro Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at (505) 843-STOP.

 

Bank robbery carries a possible prison term of up to 20 years. The use of a gun, other dangerous weapon, toy gun, or hoax bomb device during the commission of a bank robbery can be punishable by a prison term of up to 25 years.
