26-year-old Yadir Solorzano of Albuquerque

Albuquerque –

In a chaotic sequence of events today, a reckless high-speed chase through Albuquerque ensued after a black Jeep crashed into the front doors of the Maverik gas station located at 701 Wagner Dr SE. The incident, which occurred at approximately 0745 hours on November 23, 2023, led to a series of dangerous maneuvers by the suspect, identified as Yadir Solorzano.

Responding to the scene at 555 Rio Bravo Blvd SW, law enforcement officers encountered the black Jeep parked in front of the gas station. Shockingly, as deputies positioned their marked patrol unit behind the Jeep with emergency equipment activated, the driver intentionally reversed into the marked unit before fleeing the scene.

What followed was a harrowing pursuit where Solorzano showed complete disregard for public safety. Ignoring emergency lights and sirens, he accelerated to speeds of up to 90 miles per hour on Rio Bravo Blvd, careening into oncoming traffic lanes and forcing motorists to take evasive action to avoid collisions.

The reckless journey continued as Solorzano maneuvered onto Coors Blvd SW and later onto Eastbound Raymac Rd and lsleta Blvd. Despite law enforcement attempts to stop the vehicle, Solorzano persisted, eventually losing control at 5929 Don Felipe Rd, crashing into private property fences before the Jeep became disabled at 2129 Don Felipe Rd.

Upon apprehension, Solorzano was found with a cylindrical cigar tube containing M-30 blue pills, consistent with counterfeit oxycodone or fentanyl. He confessed to knowing the stolen status of the Jeep and admitted daily use of the pills, prompting charges for trafficking a synthetic narcotic and receiving a stolen vehicle.

Additionally, Solorzano faces charges for battery on a peace officer, aggravated fleeing, reckless driving, criminal damage to property exceeding $1,000, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving on a revoked license.

He was booked into MDC and it is unclear if he was able to get fed the annual Thanksgiving dinner that was given to inmates.
