Fleeing Felony Suspect Crashes Car, Citizens Detain Suspect Before APD Arrives

Albuquerque –

Around 10:30AM, Albuquerque Police Department officers had a white Ford Escape flee from them and the SUV began to drive dangerously throughout Albuquerque.

APD Air support entered the chat and were able to follow the vehicle driving erratically throughout downtown and the Barelas neighborhood. The vehicle stopped at one point and the driver and female passenger got out and abandoned the car and ran away from it for a short distance. The males cardio gave out quickly and so he made his way back to the car and drove away again with air support following. The female who fled the car told police she was kidnapped and didn’t know the male.

The vehicle then drove erratically again while heading northbound on 2nd street until it tried to make a turn westbound turn onto Coal Ave SW. The SUV lost control and hit a curb and slammed into a building at 201 Coal Ave SW on the northwest corner of the intersection. The vehicle then came to rest in the middle of the street intersection.

The suspect of the vehicle once again fled and this time random bystanders were able to hold him down until police arrived a short time later. The man was taken to the back of a patrol car and he. could be heard complaining of a scratched leg and opined that he needed to go to the hospital.

Albuquerque Fire came to the scene to evaluate his “incarceritis” and the AFR team decided his ailments did NOT meet the criteria for an ambulance ride.

The suspect will be be more than likely charged with aggravated fleeing law enforcement and reckless driving, and possibly false imprisonment of the woman.

It started on 2nd @ Cesar Chavez as we were stopped at the stop sign headed north in front of El Modelo I complained about the APD car not stopping at Ceaser Chavez about the 1300 block of 2nd there must have been 6 cops cars at a house told wife she was driving lets go cause rifles were coming out then we go closer to 900 block there was a cop pulling his Rifle out of his case. We just kept heading north then here came the white Ford Escape headed north went around us then at coal he lost control turning west on Coal and that was it. wife was like where do I go cause cop cars were coming from every direction> What a Friday morning.
