In an e-mail, the Governor’s Press Offices said Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham arrived in Mexico City today as part of a trade mission to explore economic partnership opportunities between New Mexico and Mexico.The state is paying for their travel costs
It goes on to say the governor aims to advance potential trade deals in natural gas exports during the official trade mission to Mexico. During the trip, Gov. Lujan Grisham will meet with the Mexican government, energy and business leaders, and others. Caroline Buerkle, deputy chief of operations in the Governor’s Office, and New Mexico Economic Development Secretary Rob Black are traveling with the governor.
We reached out to her communication staff on costs and they said this:
“The airfare for both the Governor and Caroline Buerkle cost $2062. The other costs will be logged after the trip. The Economic Development Department is paying for Sec. Black’s travel. Those three account for the state staff on the trip, excluding the governor’s security detail.“
Gov. Lujan Grisham returns to New Mexico on Tuesday, September 15. While she is out of the state, Lt. Gov. Howie Morales will preside over New Mexico state government.
